Buying a bright garden parasol is one of the easiest ways to bring a splash of colour into your garden. In fact if you already have lots of brightly coloured flowers and shrubs in pots, hanging baskets and containers you will notice the difference when you add a bright red or blue garden parasol to your table.

Many of us love to string patio lights from our garden parasols so we can shed some more light on a barbecue or other get together we’re having. But it can sometimes be tricky to do this if we don’t know what lights will fit the parasol we already have. Not all parasols are the same shape and size and not all sets of lights will fit them.

You may think you have seen every single variety of garden parasol on the market today. But they all seem to look very similar from one another don’t they? If you are after something a little more unusual why not consider buying an Indian garden parasol instead?

The best place to start is with your budget. Parasol bases can be very expensive, particularly if you want a good solid and well made one. For example you can buy them made from granite, which as you can imagine is very heavy. It does look nice and classy though if you want something that fits in with the natural look of your garden.

There are some rules that apply to buying anything new. This is particularly the case when it comes to buying something that can be purchased very cheaply. You need to ask yourself whether buying the cheapest item possible is such a good idea at all. The point to remember here is that cheap usually means the quality will not be as good. And this applies just as much to garden parasols as it does to anything else.

If you have a nice garden table and chairs with a parasol, the chances are you love to sit outside and use them all through the summer whenever you get the chance to do so. It is even nice to sit outside and enjoy an al fresco meal and watch the sun go down when it is warm enough to do so. But of course you do need some source of lighting to be able to do this, otherwise you will find yourself eating in the dark.

When we talk about garden parasols we are really talking about two distinct things –the parasol itself and the base. You cannot just buy a parasol as it won’t be weighted down if it gets windy, and it won’t stand straight either. You need the base to make sure the whole thing is secure.

Ironically it could well be. You see, the last thing anyone wants to buy at this time of year is a garden parasol. And because of this some retailers find they have plenty left over after the summer rush. It doesn’t make sense to have all that stock sitting around throughout the winter. Stock costs money to store and the longer it sits around the more money it costs the retailer.
