Can Garden Parasols Fend Off the Odd Shower?

Friday June 10, 2011

We all know how great – or not so great – the great British summer can be. Yes we’ll undoubtedly get some lovely sunny days but we’ll also be in for some showers and not so hot weather.

But it’s not all dreadful weather or heatwaves. Sometimes you’ll get days in between where it is warm enough to enjoy the garden but not quite as dry as you would like it to be. In this case there is nothing better than sheltering under your garden parasol for a few minutes while a light shower passes by.

Of course if it really does rain you’ll want to be indoors until it passes. If this is the case make sure you lower your garden parasol so any wind doesn’t get underneath it and cause damage. If the wind is very strong it can pull the whole table over and damage it, so just collapse the parasol and take it into the shed for safety if need be.

However if you only get a few drops of rain you can easily sit underneath a nice large parasol and shelter from it. This is great to do, especially if it hasn’t rained for a while as you will be able to smell the gorgeous fresh aroma that comes with a fresh shower of rain.

When you are thinking of buying a brand new garden parasol it’s easiest to do it online. You can look at the range that is available and also check to see how waterproof the canopies are. Most of them will be shower proof at the very least, which is really all you want to have. You won’t want to shelter in anything other than the lightest of showers.

You can actually search online for waterproof garden parasols if you wish. You will also find heavy duty covers to keep them safe when the bad weather really does set in. These might well be useful and if you don’t have a shed to keep your parasol in, you will be glad you bought a cover to use with it when you aren’t relaxing underneath it!
