This is the time of year when you will want to get your garden furniture out to start using it again. While some days at this time of year will still be cold, we are starting to see some warmer weather and that means you can use your garden furniture more often.
So if there is anything you need for your furniture, now is the best time to go and buy it. One thing that is absolutely essential to have is a good base for your garden parasol. They come in all shapes and sizes but now the garden centres have started to get the summer items out, you will see the first few parasol bases making their appearances as well.
The best place to start is with your budget. Parasol bases can be very expensive, particularly if you want a good solid and well made one. For example you can buy them made from granite, which as you can imagine is very heavy. It does look nice and classy though if you want something that fits in with the natural look of your garden.
One of the cheapest ones you can get is a plastic one that you fill up yourself in order to make it heavier. You can fill it with sand if you have some close at hand, or else fill it with water. Either will work well but it doesn’t have the same look as a more expensive base.
If you have one of these cheap ones already, then now might be the time to upgrade to something better. The downside is that you will be unlikely to find a good deal on a parasol base at the start of the season. It might be worth looking out for a sale or early bird discount of some kind, but the chances are you will have to pay the full price for it.
The good news is that most parasol bases will accommodate any size of parasol. Since the pole itself is usually pretty much the same diameter you won’t have any trouble fitting your existing parasol into it. Just be sure you choose a wide based parasol base if your parasol is a big one. It offers that additional degree of support where you need it.
Treat yourself to a better base now and notice the difference when you first go out into your garden this year.
