If you have a nice garden table and chairs with a parasol, the chances are you love to sit outside and use them all through the summer whenever you get the chance to do so.
It is even nice to sit outside and enjoy an al fresco meal and watch the sun go down when it is warm enough to do so. But of course you do need some source of lighting to be able to do this, otherwise you will find yourself eating in the dark.
Some people have outside lights on their patio but these can be a bit bright for what you want. It doesn’t exactly give you mood lighting, does it?
So instead why don’t you think about adding lights to your garden parasol? These are fairly cheap to buy and you will find they are available in lots of different styles, sizes and lengths. The normal way of attaching them is to put a ring round the middle of the parasol at the top. There will then be strings of lights coming down from this ring which thread around each spoke of the parasol itself. Once they are lit they not only provide a decent source of light, they also make your parasol look wonderful.
Another form of lighting you can use for this purpose is a candle ring. Once again you will have plenty of styles and selections to choose from, but the overall idea is always the same. You will usually have two semi circular parts of the ring that sit round each side of the parasol on the table and fit together. You can then pop candles or tealights into the holders set into the candle ring and light them to create some additional light on the table itself.
These do provide some light but they also add to the atmosphere and they dress the table beautifully. For example you might want to choose candles that are coloured the same as the table cloth or the canopy of the parasol itself. Alternatively you could buy citronella candles. These act as a repellent for flies and gnats, and that is certainly a good idea if you are sitting outside eating dinner.
So you see, adding lights to your garden parasol are a good idea in more ways than one. Once you have chosen what you like the most, you will be amazed by what a difference it makes.
